4 of the Best Waterfalls Near Leavenworth

1. Drury Falls

Located just outside our Bavarian VillageDrury Falls in Leavenworth is one of the region’s most hidden treasures. The cascades are formed by the waters of Fall Creek tumbling over the rim of Tumwater Canyon. The waterfall is approximately 1,270 feet tall and is best viewed during the snowmelt season. While there is no hiking trail that leads to the falls, you can easily view the falls from the side of US 2 in Tumwater Canyon. Simply park your car at one of the pullout points (two are located nearly 500 feet from the waterfall) and walk alongside the highway to the falls.

2. ColchuckLake Trail Falls

If you’re looking for a full day of hiking, Colchuck Lake Trail may be for you! This challenging nine-mile trail leads hikers up into the Cascade Mountains and past some of the area’s most beautiful natural features, including a waterfall! Once you reach the falls, you’ll be able to rest up before embarking on the rest of your journey or turning back to return to Leavenworth. If you complete the rest of your hike, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Mt. Stuart and a shimmering alpine lake.

3. Deception Falls

Deception Falls in Washington is an awe-inspiring multi-tiered waterfall in Stevens Pass. It’s the perfect spot to rest and stretch your legs a bit during your travels through the area. The trailhead to the falls can be found in an inauspicious rest area east of Skykomish. From here, simply follow the half-mile trail to the bridge that spans the Upper Falls. The raging water from the falls can be quite powerful during the summertime. Don’t be surprised when you’re greeted with a face full of refreshing mist!

4. Alpine Falls

Although this is the farthest waterfall from Leavenworth on our list, we guarantee your journey will be well worth the trip! Alpine Falls in WA is the largest waterfall on the Tye River and one of the few falls to be labeled on state highway maps. The falls are formed when the waters of the Tye slip down a large granite step where the river exits a shallow gorge. During the river’s peak season, the waterfall veils out over the entire face of the cliff. Once the snowmelt subsides, it will usually split into two smaller cascades. Alpine Falls can be easily viewed from the side of Highway 2.
